Netflix Party is a browser extension that is available for the Google Chrome and Opera browsers. Netflix Party only runs on laptop and desktop computers.

NOT available for iOS, Android, Tablet, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and other devices.

All participants need to have access to Netflix to start or join a Netflix Party. It is possible to use a shared Netflix account to join a party, but the account needs to be on a standard or premium Netflix membership plan which allows multiple viewers to watch Netflix at the same time.

All participants also need install the Netflix Party Chrome extension.

Everyone needs to sign onto Netflix, and needs to install the Netflix Party Chrome Extension prior to starting or joining a party.

If you are creating a Netflix Party with participants from multiple countries, you should double-check that the show you want to watch together is available in all of your regional Netflix libraries. You can use this tool to see what shows are available in each country. As a general tip you should consider watching Netflix originals, which are available in all countries.

If you can see a gray or red "NP" button on the top right corner of your chrome browser, you have successfully installed Netflix Party.

Note: if you don't see the "NP" button, on Chrome click located on top right area of your browser to view the hidden browser extensions. If you can't find the "NP" button, try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension on Chrome

Login into your Netflix Account and make sure you are on your main account profile. Select a show and make sure it is playing. Your url should look like “netflix.com/watch/videoID”. Then click on the red NP button to host your NP Netflix Party chat room.

You can share the party link you get with friends to invite them to your party.

You should not click on the NP button when it is gray, which indicates that the app is disabled & not available for use because the app cannot find a Netflix video on your webpage.

Make sure you are logged into Netflix on your main account profile, and you have a show currently on and playing. Your url should look like “netflix.com/watch/ ”. When the app detects a video on your webpage, it will turn red, and you can click on it to turn the Netflix video into a Netflix Party. If the icon still remains greyed out, re-install Netflix Partyand try again.

Choose your user icon from the top right corner of the chatroom interface. The user icon is in a circular shape that automatically generates an initial icon for you.

Change your nickname by selecting the "User Icon". This'll prompt you to the setting interface where you may change and edit your nickname.

Hide or show the chat room by clicking on the NP button again. The interface will now allow you to show or hide the chat room.
